Michael Neri
Actor, Writer & Director
Michael Neri is a queer writer and actor with a passion for amplifying working-class voices in the industry. Born and raised in a small carpet town in Worcestershire, Michael was the first in his family to earn a degree, later completing a Master’s at Guildford School of Acting.
Michael’s writing focuses on queer storytelling, often drawing from his own lived experiences. His play, Wet Feet, is a deeply personal play that explores the duality of his past and present self, reflecting the struggles, resilience, and evolution of identity. The initial one-act run of Wet Feet received widespread praise.
With dyslexia and ADHD, Michael understands firsthand the barriers that come with pursuing creative careers, especially for those from marginalized backgrounds. This led him to establish his own stage school in his hometown, a space dedicated to making high-quality arts training accessible. Many students have since gone on to attend major UK drama schools, a testament to his commitment to breaking down industry barriers.
Michael continues to challenge the industry to embrace more working-class voices, ensuring that the next generation of artists has the opportunities he fought hard to find.
